Dogs 4 Wildlife

Dogs 4 Wildlife is a UK-registered conservation charity dedicated to training and deploying highly skilled specialist canine units and providing advanced ranger training to support anti-poaching and wildlife protection efforts across Africa. Their purpose-bred and trained conservation dogs work alongside wildlife rangers to detect snares, track poachers, and safeguard endangered species, contributing to significant reductions in illegal wildlife crime.

The organisation also supports community empowerment and educational programmes designed to raise awareness of conservation issues and inspire future generations of wildlife protectors, while fostering partnerships that strengthen frontline conservation capacity.

Dogs 4 Wildlife: Current programmes and initiatives

This project transforms the lives of dogs that may otherwise face long-term confinement or uncertain futures, providing them with structured training, skilled handling and a clear working purpose. In turn, these dogs become valuable assets in conservation operations, supporting anti-poaching initiatives and wider wildlife protection efforts.

By integrating rescue, training and deployment, this programme demonstrates a holistic approach to conservation, one that recognises the intrinsic value of the dogs involved while delivering measurable impact for wildlife, local communities and conservation partners on the ground.

What are some Dogs 4 Wildlife Statistics and Achievements?

Dogs 4 Wildlife has deployed to date 15 highly trained conservation dogs across multiple Southern African countries, supporting anti-poaching units and frontline wildlife protection efforts. Their canine teams have contributed to significant reductions in poaching incidents - reported at up to 75% in areas where they operate.

Beyond anti-poaching, Dogs4Wildlife has pioneered conservation education initiatives, such asSiyafunda Ngemvelo (We Learn in Nature)in conjunction with Connected Planet, designed to bring wildlife awareness and stewardship to children from rural communities that border conservation areas. Up to date over 200 children have participated on the programme. Dogs 4 Wildlife is also active in animal and community welfare, including promoting rabies awareness and prevention, improving dog welfare through provision of better equipment, and working to reduce disease risk for both people and animals living alongside wildlife.

Dogs 4 Wildlife works in partnership with a rescue centre in Zimbabwe (Friend animal Foundation) to improve canine welfare by identifying suitable candidates for development and training as conservation dogs, providing these dogs with purpose and the opportunity to lead fulfilling, meaningful lives.
