Kent Wildlife Trust

Kent Wildlife Trust is focused on restoring nature at scale by creating a wilder Kent for wildlife and people. Through practical conservation work, habitat restoration, community engagement, and policy influence, they’re tackling biodiversity loss and climate change. Their vision is to see 30% of Kent's land and sea managed for nature by 2030, empowering local communities and landowners to be part of the solution.

What are Kent Wildlife Trust currently working on?

Kent Wildlife Trust, in partnership with Wildwood Trust, have brought red-billed choughs back to Kent after a 200-year absence. The first wild chick fledged at Dover Castle in 2024, marking a significant milestone in the Chough Reintroduction Project.

Kent Wildlife Trust successfully raised funds to purchase 26 acres of farmland in Polhill, Sevenoaks. The land will be transformed into biodiverse chalk downland, expanding the existing Polhill Bank nature reserve.

Who Founded Kent Wildlife Trust?

Kent Wildlife Trust was established in 1958, originally known as the Kent Trust for Nature Conservation. The Trust's formation was part of a broader movement encouraged by the Society for the Promotion of Nature Reserves (SPNR), which aimed to establish local conservation organisations across the UK.
